Use this exercise as a starting point for your ideas. Students will work independently (from home) on their branding & marketing packages. The main elements of the branding and marketing packages are: 1. identifiable color palette 2. a company or organization name 3. a vector based logo 4. a slogan (based on why or beliefs) 5. a business card (font and back) Spend brainstorming time developing the elements above for a new business or organization. This can be a real entity you are helping to start or a fictitious one. Complete these brainstorming exercises to help you get started quickly once we jump into illustrator next week. Your final logos must look good in black on white (white on black) vector art before you begin to stylize them . Also put some thought into what the possibilities are with putting motion to simple logos later on down the road. Get some ideas on that here and tutorials here. There are several ways you may want to use to create your logos: Watch this tutorial to learn how you can use image trace to transfer pixel-photos into vector art. If you want to scan in hand drawn sketches and trace them in illustrator, watch this tutorial to learn how to transfer line art into vector based art. If you want to build your logos from scratch use the shape builder tool and other tools you've learned. Assignment - Due Monday Morning 10/26: Publish one blog post sharing your ideas for your business/org concept. Show your work in the blog post and write about what your ideas are and how you arrived at those ideas, what inspired you for them, etc. Use some or all of the following questions to help you come up with ideas. Discuss the business or organization's mission and vision. Is it real or made up? What problems would the business or organization solve in the world? What is the philosophy? Is there a slogan? Is it modern/futuristic/chic/contemporary/rustic/? What is the feel or mood of the business? What colors should the entity be associated with? In the blog post also attach any images or documents you used in the development of your ideas. You can use your phone to snap pictures of any hand drawn sketches and upload them to your blog post or scan them. Name your blog post "Branding and Digital Marketing". Also, add one hyperlink back to a relevant page on my teacher website when referencing an idea that you learned. For example: If you write, I think the look and feel of my company should be different tones of green and brown because it is a natural foods company, as we learned when studying color theory, here." Notice the word "here" links back to the lesson on color we discussed. Assignment - Due Tuesday Morning 10/27: Show your process/work Open up a new project. RGB. 72 dpi. 5 art boards. 960X560 pixels.
